DONOVAN SCORES, GALAXY DRAW WITH FIRE 1-1

BRIDGEVIEW, Illinois — Landon Donovan scored in the 74th minute to give the Los Angeles Galaxy a 1-1 draw with the Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer on Sunday.

Donovan has scored three goals in two games since he was left off the U.S. World Cup squad.

Robbie Keane set up the goal after taking the ball from Fire midfielder Chris Ritter. The Galaxy’s Robbie Rogers tracked down the ball to the right of the goal and fed the wide-open Donovan on the left.

Fire captain Jeff Larentowicz converted a penalty in the 68th minute.

At Portland, Oregon, Pedro Morales scored from a pair of penalties as Vancouver held off Portland 4-3.

Erik Hurtado and Jordan Harvey also scored for the Whitecaps, who beat the Timbers for the first time since the two teams joined the MLS in 2011.

The loss ended a six-match unbeaten streak for the Timbers, who got goals from Maximiliano Urruti, Gaston Fernandez and Will Johnson.

Colorado’s Deshorn Brown scored two goals in the Rapids’ 3-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo.

Kamani Hill scored Colorado’s other goal.
